    Dave Hafner, Baltimore, MD USA

    • I started collecting HRC shot glasses on July 4, 1997 after the grand opening of the Baltimore café.  Up until that time, I had collected Hard Rock Café t-shirts (I have more than 120).
    • My first shot was from Baltimore, purchased at the grand opening.
    • I have 1109 four inch tall shots in my collection, and more than 1500 glassware items in total, including more than 50 coffee mugs. I only collect Hard Rock items. I have all of my shots displayed on shelves that I built.

    • My favorite drink from a shot glass is tequila, but at my advanced age I simply cannot drink like a used to.
    • The coolest HRC related item I own that is not a shot glass is the 32 ounce beer mug with the original logo from Toronto. I have an extra one, if anyone would like to make an offer. The picture shows the comparison to a mini mug.
    • The first HRC I visited was Las Vegas in 1992.
    • I have personally visited 37 cafes and my favorite is Skydome. Hard Rock and baseball, and they used to have pool tables. As far as personnel, Davey Jones at the Baltimore café is the best in the corporation.
    • My favorite food at HRC is the Red, White, and Blue burger.
    •  The café I wish I had visited before it closed is Aspen. I understand it was the smallest.
    •  I do not collect any other themed shot glasses, though I believe I have all of the shots released by the Baltimore Planet Hollywood before it closed.

    • My Zodiac sign is Pisces, but I’m not really into astrology.
    • I work as a Software Integration and Project Manager for a large defense contractor. For the past 18 months, I have been traveling far too often, usually to places with limited access to the outside world.
    • The last book I read is A Man in Full by Tom Wolfe, which was excellent, but the best book I’ve read in quite a while was State of Fear by Michael Crichton.
    • I dislike intentional deceit. Everyone makes mistakes and anyone can miscalculate a situation. Those things are always forgivable.
    • I have three pets. A dog, Kasey, and two cats, Oliver and Toby.
    • If I had a super power, it would be to see the future.
    • Some things you probably wouldn’t know about me are that I was in the process of turning my basement into a mini-HRC when it flooded for the second time in a six month period. It will be finished some day. And that I was invited to spring training by the Cleveland Indians in 1976.

Denise Black, Surrey, British Columbia, Canada

    • I started collecting shot glasses in 1994 because I bought 2 as a souvenir from each café on my European trip (2 in case 1 broke somewhere along the way – the pack was really heavy by the end of the tour and nothing broke).  They were cheaper than buying a pin and when I bought a drink I got to keep the glass.  Thankfully I drink and didn't go for the pins...
    • My first HRC shot glass was from Amsterdam (renegade), London (official).
    • I have over a thousand shots in my collection.  I display most of them in cabinets in my bedroom.  There's not a lot of room left.
    • My favorite shot glass in my collection is the Las Vegas Mr. Lucky shot because it was the first shot when I first started collecting that sold for a lot of money on eBay... and I never thought I'd get to own it.  I own the proto too.
    • My favorite drink from a shot glass is Bazooka Joe (Bailey's Irish Cream, banana liqueur and Blue Curacao).  Tastes like bubble gum.  At this past Shot Event trip I acquired a taste for Goldschlager, thanks to Lois M.
    • The coolest HRC related item I own that is not a shot glass is the Half Yard Jakarta glass.
    • The first official HRC I visited was London (first HR was Amsterdam renegade cafe).  I'd been to at least 6 others before I went to the one in my own city: Vancouver (now closed).
    • I have personally visited just over 32 Hard Rock Cafes and my favorite cafe is London – I just love the city.
    • The cafe I wished I had visited before it closed:  Banff (Alberta, Canada).
    • My favorite food at HRC is the beef dip sandwich, which has recently been discontinued.  Boo!  I used to love the wings but they’ve changed and I don’t like them as much.  Although, after visiting  Biloxi, it appears the super hot sauce is coming back!!!
    • Do I collect other themed shot glasses? – holy crap no!  I have no room.  I did start out with Planet Hollywood shots for cafes I had visited but I decided to stop collecting them and have sold all but 12 of them.
    • My favorite sport is HOCKEY.  There is no other sport.  My favorite NHL team is the Vancouver Canucks.  Oh, and for those that don't know, the Toronto Maple Leafs S-U-C-K.
    • My favorite color is army green.
    • I think life is incomplete without friends, Cheetos cheesies and hockey (they go together).
    • I am the oldest of 6 (1 brother, 2 half brothers, 1 step brother and 1 step sister).  The largest gap between my siblings and I is 22 years (the smallest is 2 years).
    • My birthday makes me a border Gemini in the contemporary zodiac and an Ox in the Chinese zodiac.  I'm not a big believer in astrology.  I do read horoscopes occasionally - almost always at the end of the day to see if anything was "foretold".  Nothing non-vague has ever come true.
    • I am a Senior Systems Analyst by default of finding nothing better to do for a career.
    • The last book I read was this past weekend, Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer.  I was in line with a friend at the bookstore on August 1rst  for the 12:01 am release.  I've done this twice before ... for the last 2 Harry Potter books.  Besides the fun of hanging out with a zillion fans for both these series, it's also comforting to know that there are other crazy people in the world.
    • I hate coffee, incompetence and liars.
    • I have 2 cats named Mystique (after the X-Men character) and Hudson (after Bill Paxton's character in the movie Aliens) – she hates him, he adores her.  I'd love to get a dog some day, probably a Doberman.
    • If I had a super power it would be to generate electricity and be able to shoot it and stuff.  Of course, I also live in a very wet city so that might be bad… so I’ll go with the ability to fly.  Yeah, fly.  Then I could travel any where I wanted, cheaply.
    • Something people probably wouldn't know about me:  I played violin until I was 16 and have many certificates with honors from the Royal Conservatory of Music.  One more exam and I could have become a violin teacher, which is something that never interested me.

Julie Bentrup - St. Louis, MO USA

    • I started collecting shot glasses in 1995 when I went to Chicago on my Senior Class trip & then to NY shortly there after. (Gosh that was SOOOOOOOO long ago!)
    • My first shot glass was from Chicago, it was an STP one but at that time I had NO clue about all the different generations of STP’s!
    • I honestly don’t know how many shots I have in my collection.  I used to have well over 1000 of them but about 4-5 years ago I sold almost my entire collection.  The only shot glasses I collect now are event shot glasses and Vegas Hotel shot glasses.  Vegas hotel used to do new shot glasses all the time but now it seems like they rarely make any new ones.
    • My favorite shot glasses in my collection are all the “Pre-Party” event shots that Denise has made over the years for the people that attend the Pre-Parties.
    • My favorite drink from a shot glass is: GOLDSCLAGER – NOOOOOOOOOOOOO MORE TEE-KILL-YA, ever again!!  LOL.
    • The coolest HRC related item I own that is not a shot glass is a Huge Bubbled Beer Glass from HRC Munich that my pin/shot collector friend Adi from Germany brought me when he came through St. Louis while visiting several HRC’s with 3 other German collectors.
    • The first HRC I visited was Chicago in 1995.
    • I have personally visited 51 Hard Rock Cafes/Hotels and my favorite cafe is St. Louis because it’s my home Café.  I just got my 50 Café visit pin in the mail from Corp, yeah!
    • I can’t say I really have a favorite food at the HRC because every time I go there it seems like the menu changes.  I do like their salads though, even if they change the salads they always seem to be good.
    • The café I wished I had visited before it closed is Aspen – I’ve always wanted to go there.
    • Favorite Actor/Actress/Movie – My Favorite Actor BY FAR is Morgan Freeman (I love him!) and my favorite Actress is Sandra Bullock.  She just seems so down to earth and not stuck on herself and the Hollywood lifestyle.  My favorite movie is Shawshank Redemption, best movie ever!
    • My favorite sport is a toss up – I really like Baseball and Football.  My favorite Baseball team would have to be my beloved Cardinals and as far as football goes I know I SHOULD say the St. Louis Rams but……I really like The Colts, Peyton is my man!  I loved Green Bay when Favre was there but don’t think I can get used to him being a New York Jet...Don’t like New England or maybe it’s really just Brady I don’t like – sorry George!!!
    • My favorite color is PINK!!  I love pink!  J
    • I think life is incomplete without great family & friends. I don’t even collect many shot glasses at all anymore but I still love to go to the events every year because I have made such wonderful friends in this hobby and I look forward to getting together with them every year for fun, laughter and yes, of course drinking!  I think those of us that come to the events every year are really a close group of friends and will continue the tradition no matter what happens or where our events may take us to!
    • I have 1 brother named Mark.  He’s older than me; he’ll be 34 on August 28th.
    • My Zodiac is a Taurus and it fits me to a T!
    • I work in Customer Service for a living – basically I am “glorified secretary” at my job where I pretty much work for everyone and in all departments.  We are in the Oil & Gas Industry and my company manufactures a granular media that removes Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) out of natural Gas.  I know, exciting huh?!!
    • The last movie I saw was The Bucket List – cute movie!
    • I dislike people that are dishonest and people who make fun of/treat bad other people who may have a handicap or a weight problem or because of their race, etc.  My mother always taught me that you should never judge people from the outside; it’s what’s in their heart that makes them who they are.
    • I don’t have any pets of my own, however my brother has a Bichon Frise named Stifler (yes, he’s named him after the character on American Pie) who is my pride and joy and more spoiled than anyone could ever imagine!!  I also have “visitation rights” to my little man Oscar who is a chocolate Daschund and I just love him to death!  He and Stifler both love to come to Aunt Julie’s on “vacation”.  J  Yes; I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE dog lover!
    • If I had a super power it would be to make everyone get along!  I’m so tired of people killing other people and themselves for their religion and having our soldiers fighting a war that cannot be won.  I’ll leave it at that! J
    • Something we probably wouldn’t know about you.  Well let’s see, I think most everyone knows everything about me, especially my obsession with firemen and Taylor Hicks.  J  The only thing I can think of that most of you don’t know is my best friend Matt passed away Dec. 16th, 1992 and his family are like a second family to me.  After his death his mother and I started attending a non-profit bereavement group in the area and another girl who lost her brother and I started a separate chapter for siblings/friends who have lost their siblings and/or friends.  It was a huge success and I then left that group for Traci to run and I went out to another group in the St. Louis area to form a sibling/friend bereavement group that was desperately needed there.  When we started there were only 2 groups in the area and as of today there are now 8 groups within the surrounding St. Louis area.  Here is an article/picture from me that was posted in the monthly newsletter.  It is on page 3 if anyone cares to check it out.  To be able to help other people heal is something that is very special and meaningful to me.

    • I started collecting regular shot glasses while in the Navy and have about eight hundred plus. In April 2000, while surfing eBay, I came across the Hard Rock Café category. I watched the site for a week and decided to collect just Hard Rock Café shot glasses.

ANYBODY INTERESTED IN PURCHASING SOME REGULAR SHOT GLASSES ??

    • The first shot glass was from HRC Dallas.
    • My HRC shot glass collection consists of 1,718 four-inch shots and 461 short shots (and no, I am not trying to beat Paul).  The short shots include the promotional, 25th and 30th anniversary, Hong Kong’s and Kowloon‘s first shot glasses, Asian mini-mugs, etc. My fakes and renegades (Phnom Penh, Saigon, Chiang Mai, Rhodes, Protaras, Nairobi, Mykonos, etc.) total 293.  Seventy-one of these are from Helio.  So my entire HRC shot glass collection consists of 2,472 pieces and growing.

I also collect most other HRC-related items and have 424 various types of glassware, Zippo lighters, drumsticks, beer bottles/cans, golf balls/baseballs, pins, clocks, ash trays, coasters, matchbooks, laminates, decks of cards, stuffed bears, chips, radios, etc. During the last couple years I picked up some pins along the way and now have over 2,100 of them. I plan on cutting back on the pins and getting back to just shot glass collecting.

    • My favorite shot glass in my collection is the Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas triple   purple sevens on a yellow spade.

    • My favorite drink from any glass, except Hard Rock Café types, is a caffeine-free diet Coke. It was a necessary mid/late-life change from Millers, Harp, Amstel and Crown Royal.

    • The coolest non-shot glass HRC-related item in my collection is a set of Soccer World Cup 2006 flag pins mounted inside a pin case.  I think it looks really sharp against the black felt background and soccer/football is my second favorite sport to watch.

    • My favorite food at an HRC is burgers and fries.  Not much of a connoisseur.

    • The café I wished I had visited before it closed is definitely Taichung.  If I had visited there I would have at least two of both versions of their shot glass. Instead, I have none L

My time included a jaunt to Nova Scotia, a Mediterranean cruise, and a Caribbean cruise.   While stationed in Scotia, NY in 1971 some friends and I went up to Diamond Lake Rodeo one weekend.  I rode a 1,200 pound Brahma bull called Killer or Thunder Stomp.  Some name like that I’m sure. It took an immediate dislike to me.  Then, after jumping up and down and running around for 4 ½ seconds, the bull made a sharp left and I made a sharp right.  The time seemed longer, though. Luckily no bones were broken, just a bruised ego.

    Some of Dick's collection!
